“At a dinner party one should eat wisely but not too well, and talk well but not too wisely.” – Anonymous
We have been doing our fair share of eating wisely and talking well each night. Between our travels, we’ve continued to be inspired by the people and places and culinary novelties and customs of new countries, from Morocco to Texas, London to China, and have invited them to dinner as often as possible.
There is nothing greater than climbing into the clothes or donning the hats and shoes of another, of tasting the foods and listening to the songs of places we’ve been to or still plan to visit. It’s as though, for a night, we are there, in those faraway lands, together as a family, doing the thing that sets our little hearts on fire ~ travelling.
There are still casual braais and slapdash everything-goes jambalaya nights. There are even pizza take-out evenings and breakfast-for-dinner treats, but as often as possible, I take to the kitchen, we set the table, sit ourselves down, and we feel the magic of a world full of diversity and colour and flavour.
Here are a few snapshots of our recent destination dinners… and a few other meals of magnificence.
